Good questions. Clearer plans.

Answers to common questions before you begin.

How much does a new deck cost?+

Size, material, height, access, foundations, stairs, railings and demolition all affect cost. Use the planning calculator to describe your scope, then request a site-specific proposal.

Do I need a permit?+

Requirements depend on the municipality and scope. Confirm applicable zoning, construction permits and inspections before work begins. The written proposal should identify who handles each approval.

How long will the project take?+

Timing depends on design, approvals, materials, weather and the work involved. Discuss an expected schedule after the scope and site are reviewed.

Can you reuse my existing frame?+

That requires an assessment of the structure and connections. The selected new decking may need different support spacing. A sound-looking surface does not confirm the framing is suitable.

Is composite decking maintenance-free?+

No. It generally has a different care routine from wood, but still needs cleaning and attention to the selected manufacturer’s instructions.

What should I consider around a pool?+

Discuss access, barriers, gates, drainage, sun exposure and the suitability of the selected surface. Pool requirements must be coordinated with deck design.

Can a deck support a hot tub?+

A hot tub introduces concentrated loads that require a specific structural evaluation. The supplied DCA6 guide does not cover decks supporting hot tubs.

What should I send with my enquiry?+

Your town or ZIP code, approximate dimensions, a few photos and your priorities are a useful start. You do not need a finished design to get in touch.
